I'm Françoise Issaly
For the past twenty years, my work has articulated around the notion of perception; through the use of various patterns that I find in my environment, either in nature, in my personal space, or that I create by drawing, in pencil or with different materials.
Graduated
from University Paul Valery in Montpellier, and University Michel de Montaigne
in Bordeaux, France, where she obtained a DEUG in Plastic Arts, a Licence and a
Master in Visual Arts, followed by a D.E.A. in with a mention in
“Communication, Arts & Spectacle”, Françoise Issaly did 3 years of research
for her Ph.D. before moving to Canada in 1993. She then moved to China in 2018.
For
more than 25 years she has been involved in the Visual Arts scene as a
professional artist (www.francoiseissaly.com), as an art instructor, and as the
editor of her own publishing house, Editions FrI.
For the past
twenty years, her work is articulated around the notion of perception; through
the use of various patterns that she finds in her environment, either in nature, in her personal space, or that she creates by drawing, in pencil or with different
materials. These patterns serve as a
cornerstone in the work she produces. They allow her to explore technical aspects while giving her the
visual language necessary to explore my favorite themes (the unstable balance
of perceptions).
Her work
refers to Plato and his cave theory, to Pascal and the place of humans in the
universe, as well as the string theory and the geometry of space. Her research
revolves around the question of what is seen, the illusion of things and their
meanings, the complexity underlying simplicity.
Even though She mostly is a painter, over the years she explored different
avenues including installations, sculpture, video and photo.
