Ma démarche
Depuis une vingtaine d’année, mon travail s’articule autour de la notion de perception ; par l’utilisation de divers motifs que je trouve autour de moi, soit dans la nature, dans mon espace personnel, ou que je crée par le dessin, au crayon ou avec différents matériaux.
Ces motifs servent de fondation pour le travail que je produits. Ils me permettent d’explorer des aspects techniques (comme la technique des glacis dans ma production picturale) tout en me donnant le langage visuel nécessaire à l’exploration de mes thèmes de prédilections (l’équilibre instable des perceptions, l’illusion des sens, et l’entre deux).
Mon travail renvoie à Platon et sa théorie de la caverne, à Pascal et à la position de l’humain dans l’univers, ainsi qu’à la théorie des cordes et de la géométrie de l’espace et s’inscrit dans la tradition abstraite de la peinture, entre abstraction lyrique et recherche formelle.
Dans mon travail, tout se meut autour du questionnement de ce qui est vu, de l’illusion des choses, la complexité sous jacente à la simplicité.
Ce qui nous entoure ne se limite jamais à ce que notre œil nous montre.
My statement
For the past 20 years my work have been revolving around the notion of perception by using different patterns I find in my surroundings; in nature, in my personal space or that I make by drawing with pencils or other materials.
These patterns are the foundation of the work I am producing. It allows me to explore technical aspects (i.e., such as traditional glazing techniques) while giving me the necessary visual language to explore my favourite themes (the fragile balance of perceptions, the illusion of the senses, and the “in between”).
My work refers and takes roots in Plato and his Cave theory, in Pascal and the place of the human in the universe, to the more contemporary String Theory and the Geometry of Space. It lies within the tradition of abstract painting, between Lyrical Abstraction and Formal research.
In my work everything revolves around the question of what is seeing, of the illusion of what we see, and the underlying complexity of things.
What is around us is never limited to what our eyes reveal.
